Alton A. LaVoy, 75, of Lambertville, MI, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 11, 1941, in Erie, Michigan, he was the son of Alton A. and Agnes (Meiring ) LaVoy, Sr. A 1958 graduate of Central Catholic High School, and served his country in the National Guard. He married Patricia Joseph on May 8, 1965 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Toledo. Alton was a plumber and pipefitter, out of Local 50, in Toledo, working primarily for Dimech Mechanical, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance. Alton “Mr. Fix-it” favorite past times were working in his garden, woodshop and his Koi Fish.
Alton is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia; children, Tammy (Alvin) Meinhart, Jill (Jerry) Lipowski, and Randy (Renee) LaVoy; brother, David (Linda) LaVoy; sister, Alvaretta (James) Fay and grandchildren, Austin (Kately), Kelcie (Nick), Paige, Addison, Kyle, Dalton, Emma, Luke and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Virginia Joseph and grandmother-in-law, Elfreda Gottfried. The family wishes to thank Alton’s healthcare giver, Heather “Croc” Barnes. Your kindness and generosity will always be remembered.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm, Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 6, 2016, at 11:00 am Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where he will lie in state after 10:00 am.
